I am a Physiotherapist specialising in the management of chronic musculoskeletal pain. I have worked in Primary Care for the last 25 years specialising in pain management since 2004 and was appointed Consultant Physiotherapist in Pain Management in 2009. I worked as part of a community based multidisciplinary team delivering an assessment, treatment and self management service for patients with chronic musculoskeletal pain in an ethnically and economically diverse community in North and East Birmingham
I worked with a team including Dr Frances Cole, Professor Bob Lewin & Dr Patrick Hill and contributed to the writing and development of the Pain Management Plan which I use routinely with people with long term pain. I helped develop the training manual and I deliver the associated training programme.
I was the Physiotherapy representative on the British Pain Society PMP Special Interest group from 2010-2011 and a member of the BPS working group revising the guidelines for PMP for Adults published in 2013.
I left the NHS in March 2013 and currently work part time in Pain services in the Midlands and as a partner in Enabling Self Care.
From July 2013 –March 2015 I worked part time for the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy as a Professional Adviser.
